Hurricane Helene made landfall as a hurricane in the Big Bend region of Florida and has weakened to a tropical storm. As of Friday morning, the storm was moving through Macon, Georgia and 100 miles southeast of Atlanta according to the National Hurricane Center (NHC).
Fortunately, Destin and 30A’s beaches received minimal impact. The beaches look beautiful today and are open to the public, however, double red flags are still in effect and the water is closed for swimming due to dangerous rip currents. Visit the SWFD website for the latest
