BBQ, Beer, and Blue Crabs Take Center Stage at these October Festivals

Fall is in full swing and fun October events fill the calendar this weekend. Whether you love to eat, drink or just have fun with friends, there is an event this weekend that will add a dash of fun to your weekend at the beach.

 Baytowne Wharf Beer Festival (Oct. 13-14)

For those who prefer to skip the barbecue and focus on the beer, the 10th Annual Baytowne Beer Festival is made for you. On Friday from 6-8pm, Beer from Around Here will feature local craft beers and samplings of appetizers from area restaurants. Featured breweries include: Destin Brewery, 3rd Planet, Props Brewery, Idyll Hounds, Grayton Beer, Gulf Coast Brewery, Proof, Pensacola Bay, NIVOL ad Fairhope Brewery plus samples from our local Timber Creek Distillery. On Saturday from 2-6pm, the main event will feature more than 40 breweries, offering nearly 200 domestic and international craft beers for sampling. Friday Tickets are $40. 30A BBQ Festival (Oct. 13)

At Marina Park in WaterColor on Friday from 6-9pm, barbecue and beer will the focal point to kick off the weekend. Enjoy live music while you meander the beautiful green off of Western Lake and enjoy BBQ creations from local restaurants and chefs. Between tastings, you’ll enjoy all beer you care to drink or visit the wine tent to pair vino with your barbecue. This lively event is the perfect way to kick off the weekend on 30A. Advance tickets are $25/adult and $10/kids (age 6-12). Children 5 and under are free.  Tickets will be available at the door for $35.00 Proceeds benefit The Sonder Project and support their mission to end extreme poverty through high-impact, sustainable solutions. Click here to learn more or puchase tickets.

30A Blue Crab Festival (Oct. 13-15)

Who doesn’t love sweet and salty blue crabs? Held at Trebeache in Redfish Village in Blue Mountain Beach along Hwy 30A, the 2nd Annual Blue Crab Festival is the place to be to celebrate and enjoy blue crab. On Friday starting at 7pm, enjoy the VIP Blue Crab Wine Walkabout ($75/person). On Saturday from 11am to 9pm, the main event will feature awesome eats, live music and entertainment including 12PM- DUKE BARDWELL & MARK GILLESPIE, 1:30PM- THE PICKLED PICKERS, 3:15PM- LUKE LANGFORD BAND, 5:00PM- BOUKOU GROOVE and 7PM- ERIC LINDELL & COMPANY. (Sat Entry Fee: $10/person) On Sunday, enjoy the 30A Blue Crab Festival Jazz Brunch. The a la cart jazz brunch features traditional brunch fair and lots of creative dishes with blue crab complemented by live music by Bill Garret & Company.
