Best Oyster Restaurants in Destin

Oyster season is back, and it’s the most delicious time of the year! It’s the perfect time to enjoy some fresh oysters. From Virginia to Louisiana, it's been said that the Southeast could become the Napa Valley of oysters Yes, you can enjoy them year round, but they are more firm and flavorful in cold weather months when it is not spawning season. Here are some of our favorites.

Oyster Boathouse

1. Boathouse

Tucked down in the harbor right on the water, this little Boathouse has some of the best oysters around town. They’ve been in business for over 30 years and have been voted Best Oysters in years past. You can see them shuck 'em in the back bar area, and order their famous spicy gumbo while you wait. They also have live music by local artists almost every night.

Oyster Boshamps 2

2. Boshamps

Located on the harbor at 414 Harbor Boulevard, this place has a great outdoor deck for seating and an outdoor bar as well. They do their oysters 6 signature ways, including their oyster boshamp with caramelized onion, feta, and bacon marmalade. Live music is playing usually on Sundays on the deck.

Oyster Jackacudas

3. Jackacuda’s

‘Seafood and sushi for the whole family’ is their motto. You can't beat the view and atmosphere with it being conveniently located on the harbor at 56 Harbor Blvd. They serve oysters up raw and 3 special ways. If you like oysters with a little bit of spice, we recommend the jalapeno cheddar bacon oyster.

Oyster Acme

4. Acme Oyster House

New location, same ‘rawsome’ oysters! They are now located at 90 Seascape Drive in the new Seascape Towne Centre. Acme Oyster House serves them up raw, chargrilled, and even oyster shooters with cocktail sauce and a splash of vodka. We also recommend the oyster Rockefeller soup if you’re looking to switch things up.

Oyster Half Shell

5. Half Shell Oyster House

It originally opened in Gulfport, MS in 2009, and we’re so glad they finally opened one in our neck of the woods, Destin, FL this past May 2017. We highly recommend the oyster Bienville with mushroom, crab, gulf shrimp, bacon, and sprinkled with parmesan cheese if you’re looking for that real southern gulf to table taste. Located at 34761 Emerald Coast Pkwy, Suite 104.

Oyster Brotulas

6. Brotula’s

Locally owned and operated, they pride all their food on being fresh from the gulf.  It’s your classic seafood house with a full steamer. Head over and enjoy the creamy crab marmalade oyster with blue crab, onion marmalade and a delicious herb butter. Oh, and the view isn’t half bad either with it being located serenely on the Destin Harbor at 210D Harbor Blvd.

Oyster Ajs

7. AJ’s Seafood and Oyster Bar

Established in 1984, they’ve come a long way since shucking oysters in a small trailer right on the docks of the harbor. They now have a much larger space, more extensive menu, and a huge Jumbotron at their outdoor patio to enjoy the big game! We recommend the oyster sampler where you can try each of Aj’s favorite baked oysters. Located at 116 Harbor Blvd.
