2022 Gulf Red Snapper Season Opens June 19

Exciting news for anglers! The 2022 Gulf Red Snapper Summer Season has been extended to 57 days this year and will open on June 17 and run consecutively through July 31, 2022. This will be the longest combined season that has ever been available! In addition, Snapper Season will include a Fall Gulf Red Snapper Season, which includes 12 additional days, including Veteran’s Day weekend and Thanksgiving.

Due to the popularity of Gulf Red Snapper, the community has invested heavily in nurturing this species. Destin has the most active artificial reef program in the state and this year alone the Tourist Development Department will invest almost $3 million in growing the artificial reef network. The Coastal Resource Team has created more than 300 artificial reefs in the Gulf of Mexico along with eight fish aggregating devices.

The Destin Harbor is home to the largest charter fishing fleet in the U.S. and there are lots of opportunities to put you and your friends and family out on the water.

Here are the Gulf Red Snapper Dates for the 2022 Season:

June 17 – July 31 – 45 day Summer Season

October 8-9 – 2 day Fall Season

October 15-16 – 2 day Fall Season

October 22-23 – 2 day Fall Season

November 11-13 – 2 day Fall Season (Veteran’s Day)

November 25-27 – 2 day Fall Season (Thanksgiving Weekend)
