Named after the area’s colorful blue lupine flower, Blue Mountain Beach is an alluring escape in the heart of South Walton.

The access contains a public restroom, bike rack, and showers. During peak season there is usually a lifeguard on duty.

Boasting South Walton’s highest elevation (a mere 65 feet), this “mountain” of a beach is laid-back and low key. Blue Mountain Beach beckons those who enjoy a quiet, relaxed getaway. With many locally-owned restaurants and shops, Blue Mountain is indeed the locals’ beach. Redfish Village provides a gathering spot with restaurants, including Red Fish Taco, and boutique shops. Or head to the Blue Mountain Creamery for hand-made ice cream. Adventure seekers can access Point Washington State Forest or simply head to the Gulf for water activities including Stand Up Paddle Boarding.

At the back of the local gas station is Redd’s Fueling Station. A local’s hangout that features Redd the Singing Bartender. Fans can request one of the 400 songs she proudly performs. Stay for dinner and enjoy the experience.

Before heading to the beach, know the surf conditions by taking note of the colored flag system.

Double red flags mean the water is closed for swimming due to powerful rip currents that can sweep even the strongest swimmers out to sea. Stay safe, check today’s conditions on our Beach Safety page.
